About Discover Natural Sarasota

The Discover Natural Sarasota website was developed by the Sarasota Convention & Visitors Bureau, in partnership with Sarasota County Government, Science and Environment Council of Sarasota County, and the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast. The goals of the website are to stimulate awareness of Sarasota County as a nature destination and to provide information about Sarasota County’s tourism-related natural assets.

The natural assets included on the website are managed with the goal of preserving ecosystems and providing (or providing a gateway to) nature-based recreation opportunities, or providing visitors, at indoor or outdoor venues, with opportunities to learn about nature and the environment.

All of the sites are owned and operated by a nonprofit or government entity, are managed with a public access or public use goal, are open to the public, provide a positive experience for the community and visitors, are relatively easy to find, and can accommodate increased visitation.
