Experiences
This is the place for those who prefer peace and quiet rather than conveniences. The beach is excellent for long and quiet walks or playing in the surf or shallows. If a break from the sun is preferred, take a walk along the Fred Duisberg nature trail. Amenities include picnic area and restrooms, but no restaurants, shops or lifeguards at this park. The site is home to the historically significant Hermitage Artist Retreat (not open to the public). Blind Pass Beach is located on Manasota Key Road, one mile north of the Charlotte County line on Manasota Key.
History
The property was acquired by Sarasota County Government in stages, starting with 400 feet of gulf frontage. The peninsula on Lemon Bay was created from spoil when the Intracoastal Waterway was dug in the early 1960's.
