Experiences
Humphris Park, on the southern side of the Venice Jetty, provides a beautiful overlook of the channel connecting the Gulf of Mexico to the Intracoastal Waterway. It is a favorite spot of locals and tourists to watch the sunset and to fish for snook, mangrove snapper or sheepshead.
It is not unusual to see a pod of dolphins feeding near the beach or in the Intracoastal Waterway, manatees slowly swimming by, or pelicans diving in the water to join the feeding. Shore birds, such as Louisiana blue heron and lots of snowy egrets, pick along the rocks and shallows for snacks. When cold fronts come through the area, a favorite entertainment is watching the surfers – unless, of course, you have a surfboard of your own.
