Experiences

Snook Haven Park is a great place to relax and enjoy a slice of Old Florida. With water access to the Wild and Scenic Myakka River and plentiful snook and tarpon, this is a fishing hot spot. Bring your own canoe or kayak (or rent one here) for a paddle on the Myakka River/Carlton Trail. Head north for a more primitive experience on the river. Beautiful live oaks and river vistas abound in this area, as well as alligators, turtles, osprey and many other birds. One hour scenic riverboat tours are offered October – May. The park’s bayou style restaurant on the river has been a fixture in Venice for more than 50 years. Outdoor concerts are held every weekend (check www.snookhavenfl.com for schedule).

History

Sarasota County purchased the property in 2006. Historically, the site was a fishing camp.
