Experiences

This small rookery island within a man-made lake is a premier destination for birders and nature photographers. The rookery is a highly used nesting spot for egrets, herons and anhingas. The best time to photograph is early in the morning or late in the afternoon. A great vantage point late in the afternoon is the path to the left of the pavilion. Stop at the Venice Area Audubon Center (located at 4002 S. U.S. 41, Venice) on your way to or from the rookery.
